My passion for mental health began during my time working at the Twin Towers Jail in Los Angeles County. I spent 2.5 years there treating inmates going through withdrawal from substances like cocaine, alcohol, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. Many of these individuals had extensive histories of trauma and turned to substances as a way to cope. Listening to their stories deeply moved me—I felt their pain and developed a profound empathy for their struggles. This experience sparked my interest in mental health and inspired me to explore it further.
I later joined Klarity, an online platform specializing in ADHD treatment. There, I encountered patients who, in addition to having ADHD symptoms, also struggled with substance abuse, anxiety, and depression. I began to question whether underlying mental health issues might contribute to difficulties with focus and attention, further fuelling my curiosity and desire to learn more.
Motivated by a drive to better serve this population, I pursued advanced education in mental health. Before beginning my coursework, I accepted a position at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), where I provided care to underserved populations, including undocumented and uninsured individuals. At this clinic, I gained invaluable experience treating patients with complex psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, severe depression with psychotic features, and bipolar disorder with mania. This experience solidified my commitment to mental health care.
In February 2025, I became a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and launched my own remote mental health clinic, with the mission of providing accessible, compassionate care to individuals in need—no matter their background or circumstances.
